 CONNECTORS OF CONTRAST

 

👉 ALTHOUGH/ THOUGH / EVEN THOUGH+ CLAUSE ( subject + verb).

  •  Significan: aunque.
  •  EVEN THOUGH (Es igual que ‘although’, pero más formal).
  •  THOUGH (Es más informal).

  Examples:

  • Although/ Though it was sunny, it was very cold.
  • I’ll be there, even though I may be slightly late.

 👉 DESPITE/ IN SPITE OF + Noun/ (Pronoun) Verb-ing 

  • Significan: a pesar de / pese a. 
  • ‘Despite’ es un poco más formal. 
  • ‘Despite’ nunca se utiliza delante de la preposición ‘of’.
 Examples:
  • In spite of the wind, we went fishing.
  • Despite (him) dressing terribly, he’s considered an influencer.

 

 👉 Despite the fact that + CLAUSE ( subject + verb).

 Example:

  •  Despite the fact that he dresses terribly, he’s considered an influencer.
