CONNECTORS OF CONTRAST
👉 ALTHOUGH/ THOUGH / EVEN THOUGH+ CLAUSE ( subject + verb).
- Significan: aunque.
- EVEN THOUGH (Es igual que ‘although’, pero más formal).
- THOUGH (Es más informal).
Examples:
- Although/ Though it was sunny, it was very cold.
- I’ll be there, even though I may be slightly late.
👉 DESPITE/ IN SPITE OF + Noun/ (Pronoun) Verb-ing
- Significan: a pesar de / pese a.
- ‘Despite’ es un poco más formal.
- ‘Despite’ nunca se utiliza delante de la preposición ‘of’.
Examples:
- In spite of the wind, we went fishing.
- Despite (him) dressing terribly, he’s considered an influencer.
👉 Despite the fact that + CLAUSE ( subject + verb).
Example:
- Despite the fact that he dresses terribly, he’s considered an influencer.
